Nancy Mauro is a New York City-based, critically acclaimed novelist and award-winning copywriter with over fifteen years of experience in the ad industry.
Born and raised in Canada, Nancy attended the University of Toronto where she studied Art History and English. After graduating she become the only copywriter in Young & Rubicam's Calgary office. She cut her teeth in television that year by writing and producing over 25 commercials for the Alberta Ford and Mercury Dealers.
She returned to Toronto to join Cossette Communication-Marketing. During her 4 1/2 years at Cossette, Nancy worked on nearly every account the agency held. She won national and international awards for her work on Nike, Isuzu, Bell and the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, to name a few.
Building on this success, Nancy moved to MacLaren McCann, Toronto as senior group head to work on Nestle Canada, Johnson & Johnson and the General Motors Buick Division.
It was at this point that Nancy won a coveted spot at the University of British Columbia's prestigious MFA program in Creative Writing. She spent three years at the Vancouver campus, where she received a full fellowship and wrote what would become her debut novel, NEW WORLD MONKEYS.
After graduation, Nancy moved to New York City to work as an Associate Creative Director at McCann Erickson. Here, she spearheaded creative launches for both pharmaceutical giant, GlaxoSmithKline, as well as the national retailer, Kohl’s.
Two years later, when Random House published her first novel, Nancy left the agency world in order to pursue both fiction writing and copywriting. She signed a second book deal with Random House Canada and her novel, THE PERSIAN BROS. BAKERY is slated for publication in 2019.
